Wikipedia and IP

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Well, well, well, I see people on Wikipedia have been very busy over the last few weeks, and on that note so have Electronic Arts and editing there own wikipedia articals. I was using something that tracks IP adresses that make changes to articals, and it just so happened that EA changed some stuff about how long there employees work from this: (words in bold have been changed)

Electronic Arts has from time to time been criticized for its employment policy of requiring employees to work extraordinarily long hours; up to 65 hours per week; as a general rule and not just at “crunch” times leading up to the scheduled releases of products. “The current mandatory hours are 9am to 10pm; seven days a week; with the occasional Saturday evening off for good behaviour (at 6:30pm), http://www.livejournal.com/users/ea_spouse/.

To this:

Electronic Arts has from time to time been criticized for asking some employees to work long hours. The company has since settled a [class action] lawsuit brought by game artists to compensate for “unpaid overtime” EA management demanded of its….

Different really.

At some points mention of the previous name of the company Amazin’ Games were removed under the editing reason of “typos”, so here are the best bit from “typos”:

BEFORE

Strategy and Marketing. Hawkin’s founded the company in the summer of 1982 with a personal investment of US$200,000. His tentative name for his newly found company was ”Amazin’ Software”. This name was universally disliked by other early members of the company and was soon changed.

AFTER:

Strategy and Marketing. Hawkins founded the company in the summer of 1982 with a personal investment of US$200,000. His original name for his newly found company was ”Amazin’ Software”.

Biiggg typo then.
Oh well, EA is a big company they must care about there image status for now… BIG TYPO!

Bioshock OUT!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

IT’S OUT! And the collectors edition looks MASSIVE! Coming with a Big Daddy figure and plenty of other things, this seems to be the best C.E. that I have seen, and not only the best game yet to now hit the XBOX 360, some people say there is a PS3 release soon, but I still think it should just be a XBOX 360 and PC game, the port to PS3 would be a bit less un-heart-en-ing.

The view of this prototype make the Big Daddy figure look a bit less snaztastic, and like it hasn’t been painted very well, or its all made out of plastic. Anyway, when I get my hands on this game I will report back, over and out, Olly.

Skype is DOWN!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Today I just logged in, starting up my PC, and as you do when your board and you have a monitor and no one to talk to, try…at least. I try that with Skype… 8,000,000,00 users online almost at all times have been locked out today by what at first was call a P2P error, but later comfirmed by Skype limited as “it’s a software issue.”

Many people including me have tried to log in to no avail and so people are now stuck with crappy voice audio and video services like Gtalk from Google, and MSN.

For people who don’t know what Skype is a Voice over Internet Protocol, also called VoIP, IP Telephony, Internet telephony, Broadband telephony, Broadband Phone and Voice over Broadband is the routing of voice conversations over the Internet or through any other IP-based network. Skype has a very nice quality of VoIP and (sometimes) even sounds like someone is in the room with you….wooooohhhh.

Skype released the following statement on there heart-beat blog saying:

“UPDATED 14:02 GMT: Some of you may be having problems logging into Skype. Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue. We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Additionally, downloads of Skype have been temporarily disabled. We will make downloads available again as quickly as possible.”

So if Skype Ldt makes a habbit of this, what will be the next installment of OMRpodcast?
12 - 24 hours is nearly up and I need to talk to people!!!!?!?!

If you would like to talk to me on this matter please skyp…. oh yeh.

Plinky Plonkey

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Today I went to to beach, and did my first ever outdoor podcast, and on the beach! Whoo check out POD16 on www.openmicradio.co.nr and be amazed… anyway hence to the title of this, watching this wife swap stylee program that’s American called Trading Spouses on Living 2 (Virgin Media C: 112) and like all American programs it has the MOST ANNYOING music EVER! I was watching desperate housewifes on channel 4, and same type of plinky plonkey music, and also another thing, the way they are all edited, you have them interviewed and there daily life, just as if its some sort of film, and when something really gay happens then here comes the sad music.

Speaking of GAYS! Gay (woops) Pride Parade in Brighton and just sooo happened to drive by, and please, for the love of god DON’T! Men with something, or that matter nothing at all is highly desturbing, and seeing men in hot lether red trouses half naked looking like this:
Anyway have fun and enjoy your gays :-)
