So why bring this word up you say, what has happened recently or
since July for that matter for me to really be posting on my blog about
it? Someone under the name of Sophie has been commenting on a
year old post of mine, and I don’t really know where she found it to be
honest; unless she was typing “chav” “f**kin” and “hair” into Google.

NOTE: I made this post waaaaaaay before I started using wordpress, and this was one of my first posts. I would like to think of my blog as an online journal of things that happen in my day to day
life. (and I really wish I could update my blog more for that matter).

What suprised me by this wonderful commenter is that he’s brought into the ring the word McDonalds!…spelt incorrectly!!! Now any mighty chav would have “dissd” you because of that fatal error.

A quick question. You say your not stupid, yet you said I ain’t, which is the incorrect use of grammar, so I’m afraid you just contradicted yourself there! I bet you do look like a dog, with the pulled back hair, giant hoop earrings and fag. WHOOPS did I just describe a stereotype?!

I post some stuff about her having a shouting disorder and a guy who I think I may know, named Stu attempts to break the ice and cure the conflict, he fails as Sophie takes a peek at the comment I posted

Oh, it was going so well Sophie, until you USED THE CAPS LOCK AGAIN!

Apple’s recent conference in hip San Francisco entitled Let’s Rock went down yesterday (10/9/08), the conference was to showcase all of Apple’s latest inventions involving  iPods. Segwaying into the most interesting rumour on the internet for all of this week or so was the picture of a very tall iPod Nano like case (reported to be the next Nano by 3rd party manufactures) and now everything matches up…

The new headphones *pictured* are ever worse ‘funner’ than before, and have a new brain control function that makes you ignore everything that involves the words common sense, and wallet.

The problem is that the iPod Nano *below* is now no longer a Nano, but it just seems that Apple will make their products bigger just because…they can. You can now view coverflow on a  2″ screen, and whats more watch movies! Yes that’s right, MAKE YOUR EYES BLEED and get cataracts!…also a new addition is the accelerometer which sounds as useful as Jack Moore’s twitter. (That you can of course see here.)

So after all the speculation that the iPod touch would have a MAJOR over hull…it…really…didn’t, and when they say 2nd generation…I believe it’s really more of a 1.5 gen when you feast your eyes over the feature base…and what’s more wait until you see the staggering “improvements”. I suppose I’m most annoyed as is John “Dragoncoals” off of ForgeHub.com (shameless plug) who recently orded a 1st Gen iPod touch, only 3 days before the announcement of the new one, as did I, but only I received mine on the 26th August….grrr. :@

Features Things include:

• It’s thinner!!! THINNER, PEOPLE! YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET ANY SMALLER, IT JUST DID!
• It has a tinny little speaker that will keep you grinding your teeth on any train or bus ride with annoying rap music.
• It’s got a stainless steel back…much like the old one but it doesn’t get scratched even when you clean it with the cloth.
• Volume control…IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE!!!
• And it’s made by Apple

If you like none of these things, it means you want to buy it, because no doubt later on an amazing Apple TV advert will molest its way onto your television screens with some music that you’ll never be able to get out of your head.

So that’s the iPod Touch 2G out of the way, now what other pointless things can I roast under my typing fingers of scrutiny?

Just seen this on Flickr, as I upgraded my basic account to a Pro account, yayness for Flickr!!!

The problem with me is I like to have a stress, and maybe thats why I like prank calling people, but aside from that I never end up doing anything until the last minute. For example I haven’t really written much on this blog for basically the whole time I’ve been off school, but I sure do write like a person with a gun pointing to his back when the bloody school term starts.

Anywho, I WILL make some more movies for my YouTube and Vimeo accounts and I WILL finish my new ‘Web 2.0′ website (OllyNewport.com).

But aside from me being a lazy git person who is always late to do almost everything (star sign Leo) I have found a cool new website!

Lifestream.fm

Life stream so far is in a closed beta stage, so you’ll have to wait for them to send you a code, and thats mostly the reason why I managed to get the username Olly. Lifestream.fm combines about 50 different social networking websites (Twitter, Tumblr, Pownce, Vimeo, eBay, YouTube, Wordpress, Blogger) etc, and to save the hassel (see where this ties into my lazyness) of going to loads of different websites, and opening lots of different things, you can either:

1. Go to the website, asign all of the websites you’re signed up with and boom.
2. Download the Adobe AIR app and feel the breeze *(drum sound effect)*.

Kabooma! And you have instant acsess to all the things you’ve uploaded, updated, and posted. All in one place, add your mates and you can check out what they’re doing without trolling throughout another 100 websites. As Morpheus said…”It’s all about choice.”

On a side note, most of the website is broken, the Adobe AIR app doesn’t even work, and it doesnt seem like you would want to sign up unless you had lots of websites that you were signed up to. It’s not like this website can publish from either, and at the moment Ping.fm another closed beta website, has a far better design, features and I could see myself using. So at the moment, Lifestream in another long line of .fm websites, has got my stamp of epic fail for the mean time. Until it works, I’ll make a proper verdict.

My first thought was get another PSP to replace my broken one, but I thought that instead I would find something to better it, the criteria was:

1: Small and light
2: Had all the features the PSP had and more
3: Had wi-fi and a good internet browser.

So my first thought was the microsoft Zune, the only problem was that the only was of getting my hands ok it would be by importing it from the united states. The Zune did have a very nice feature set, and it was cheap…but then again it probally would be because I would import it from america.

Next up was the cheap altenitve, something like the iriver or creative zen media player. But these where rejected because they lacked in features.

So I finally settled ok the iPhone or iPod touch, they both where what I was looking for, they had a good internet browser and where very highly rated by many people to be very good, not only as a mediaplayer but as something to let you read your emails and watch the BBC iplayer, and what’s more with the new apple iPod and iPhone SDK out, anyone could create cool apps! The wordpress and last.fm apps caught my eye.

So after having a good long think about if an iphone 3g would be the way to go organ iPod touch would me more a feasable option I decoded that eBay would be my saviour… And it nprmally is, but iphone’s where crazy cake expensive, and 3g ones even more, so I strted hunting for an iPod touch over the fact that i don’t want to have to pay over £40 a month for an iPhone, what do I look like I’m made of money.

A week on I managed to bad a 32GB iPod touch off eBay for £230+5.99 for shipping. BARGIN!

So have I made the right choice? I think I have, I’ve perfected using the keyboard in tiny portrait mode and have become so fast at typing that this whole blog post has been hand typed on my touch.
